SuperYacht Aid Coalition (SAC), an organisation comprised of a fleet of superyachts, businesses and yacht support services, working to provide relief and supplies to hurricane-ravaged islands in the Caribbean, has announced it will be working with YachtAid Global (YAG) to provide aid to those affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Norma Trease, founding member of SAC explained, “During the Monaco Yacht Show, a work group consisting of many important industry groups gathered together to organise a comprehensive response to the unfathomable Caribbean disaster which has so severely impacted many islands which have hosted and fostered our industry and businesses for many decades.”
According to the organisation, the role of SuperYacht Aid Coalition is to marshal the resources of as many yachting partners and individuals, specifically by fostering a global call-to-action, providing PR and communications and leading fund raising.
YachtAid Global will orchestrate the delivery of disaster relief, development and conservation aid, deploying yachts to deliver humanitarian aid to the affected areas, some of which are isolated and under-privileged communities currently receiving little international assistance. YAG will also assist in SAC’s PR and fundraising efforts.
Mark Drewelow, founder of YAG commented, “The contributions and assistance coming from the yachting industry in response to Hurricanes Irma and Maria are unprecedented.”
Tim Forderer, managing director of YAG stated, “Of utmost importance is the creation of a sole source ‘click to give’ instrument capable of both receiving crowd-funding while also providing a fundraising platform”. YAG’s ‘click to give’ platform, www.yachtaidglobal.org, was relaunched today, and can be used to make custom stakeholder funding campaigns for individual yachts, crews and businesses wishing to contribute.
Fiona Maureso, MYBA President commented, “This is a unique opportunity to channel the compassion of yacht owners and all those who work in our industry, supporting these amazing places, helping restore their basic infrastructure and enabling them to rebuild their lives and their economies. SAC is determined to harness participation from every facet of the yachting business: Owners, crew, businesses and resource providers alike.”
