Technical Launch of M/Y Prima at Palumbo Shipyard

Palumbo Group has the pleasure to announce the technical launch of the beautiful M/Y Prima, a 54m Superyacht, has taken place at Palumbo Shipyard in Naples this morning; the delivery to the Owner will be in July.

M/Y Prima was built for a Shipping Company, owner of the Columbus Yacht brand. At the moment, another 55m yacht is under construction and the design of other models ranging from 38m to 75m, with steel hulls are being designed. The technical launch of this beautiful Superyacht was attended by local Authorities, shipyard workers, national and international brokers and specialist press. The technical launch of M/Y Prima represents an important goal for Palumbo, that last year acquired two Shipyards in Malta, one of them fully dedicated to superyachts refitting.

Palumbo Group is very proud to have achieved this goal and to have built its first Yacht entirely with local workers at the highest quality standards and advanced technology in the field and would like to thank all those who have participated and have made possible this unique project realized in the south central part of Italy, showing the excellence achieved.

The M/Y Prima was designed by Sergio Cutolo (Hydrotech Naval Architecture) and interior design by Tommaso Spadolini (Spadolini Studio Design), international well known names in the field in the designing of luxury mega yachts.

Precious materials, construction standards, the most advanced technology and the obtained classification create a Yacht modern, luxurious, comfortable and environmentally friendly with low power consumption and reduction of noise and of environmental pollution.

The idea of Columbus Yacht, was to create a yacht with a classic look with retained precise proportions without excessive élans combined with elements that help give her a distinctive appeal, like the curved upper deck windows.
The sun deck on the flybridge offers a large circular pool, and there is another conversation area in the open air on the forward upper deck.
For the interior design a geometric style was chosen expressed in large spaces offering outstanding comfort and practicality throughout, and where any possible restricted, uncomfortable areas have been eliminated therefore with a design that remains elegant and attractive, offering in the same time also intense functionality. Leit motiv is the phrasing of the bright ceiling colours, intersected by darker wood panels, and the brown of the Italian walnut floors, with inserts of calacatta oro marble.

M/Y Prima has a full displacement of about 700t, six staterooms including full beam Owner’s cabin with balcony and VIP cabin on the bridge deck. Exceptional volume from her 10.2m beam, large common areas and massive internal volumes are the main characteristic of Prima.

Sleeps 12 guests and crew in six double crew staterooms plus Captain’s cabin. On the Sun Deck, a large Jacuzzi is well exposed on the sun pad island and there is a bar inboard of the crews’ staircase down to the bridge deck pantry.

Prima was built in compliance with the Rules of ABS and she is suitable for unrestricted navigation with following class notation Maltese Cross A1, Yachting Service, UMS. She also obtained RINA Green plus as an additional notation class.
