Interior training provider, The Crew Academy, has teamed up with World Class, the world’s biggest cocktail competition, to offer free mixology training to crew.
The Crew Academy has worked alongside World Class since 2014 to generate interest in cocktail making within the yachting industry, and will offer the training ahead of next year’s event. With yachting now officially recognised by World Class, the annual competition is looking to inspire all members of crew to get involved, as well as help them to improve on their bartending skills.
The Crew Academy and World Class will be hosting a number of ‘bartending bootcamps’ at The Crew Academy’s training facilities in the South of France. Here, masterclasses in mixology will be held by World Class representative, Luca Anastasio, to help crew learn mixology and prepare for the competition.
Charlotte Roch, marketing director at The Crew Academy, said, “We want to engage with all yachting crew, and as a training provider, The Crew Academy is passionate about learning. For us, World Class is not only a chance for crew to grow and develop new skills, but also to explore a creative industry and discover a passion for the art of cocktail-making.”
The Crew Academy is offering all its one-day cocktail and mixology courses free of charge, and anyone can take part in the competition, from engineers and stewardesses to chefs or captains. Stacey Sellers, a stewardess and recent student at The Crew Academy commented, “The course itself is fantastic, I love Luca’s enthusiasm. It was everything and more than I expected it to be.”
The Crew Academy will be hosting its training sessions on 15th and 16th February and 14th and 15th March. The World Class competition will then take place in mid-April 2016.
