Vitruvius Yachts partners with Turkish shipyard

Vitruvius Yachts has announced plans to work with Turkish shipyard, Turquoise Yachts, on 80-metre luxury motor yacht - project VY80.

The VY80 landmark project is one of the first new builds announced by Turquoise Yachts since Mohammed Al Barwani, owner of yacht builder Oceanco, acquired a majority stake in the shipyard in December 2014.

With three new builds already underway, Turquoise Yachts partners with Vitruvius Yachts amidst a new strategy to focus on the luxurious lifestyle of yachting.

Mehmet Karabeyoglu, CEO from Turquoise Yachts said, “This is an exciting project which fully encapsulates our focus on the yachting lifestyle. It captures a vision that Mohammed and I share. Even though there’s a large technical component, we’re focused on the lifestyle aspects. This is where the magic is. It’s why the world of yachting is so attractive.”

The VY80 boasts distinctive lines with a streamlined design and sensation of transparency in the superstructure through the substantial use of glass in the living space.

An owner’s deck below the sundeck is comprised of an owner’s saloon, office and stateroom, with a private terrace and Jacuzzi. In total, the yacht can accommodate twelve guests across six suites, plus twenty-one crew. The gym, with its adjoining spa with sauna, steam room and plunge pool, will have views of the waterline via a floor-to-ceiling window.

Veerle Battiau, managing director from Vitruvius Yachts continued, “We are thrilled about this project. Advanced design from Vitruvius and the well-established quality of Turquoise combine in VY80 to realise an exciting new vision of yachting at its best: bold new design focused strongly on individual lifestyle choice.”

There will be more than 395 square metres of deck space over four decks, and a number of notable design features, including an infinity swimming pool, three levels of outdoor lounging and dining areas and two Jacuzzis.
