UK-based training provider, Virtual Training Centre, has been approved by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency to provide online Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA) and Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD) courses.
In a statement, Virtual Training Centre told us, "As many vessels and crew are located all around the world we realised how difficult it was for crew to find a convenient training centre either close at hand or with date[s] available to partake in training. We realised [that] there was a growing demand to develop an LMS platform so people can learn online conveniently [and] efficiently in order to save time and costs associated with travelling to a test centre."
The news comes as more and more training across the world, and in all industries, is being provided over the internet for user-convenience, lower costs, and to make the process of learning specific skills more efficient. In the superyacht industry, where crew are placed all over the world with attendance to training centres typically requiring significant travel arrangements, the application of online training could prove particularly useful.
VTC is UK MCA-approved, ISO 9001:2008 certified and was a finalist at Venturefest 2017.
