Wahoo RIBS trials £200,000 superyacht tender

Following news of remodeling its entire range of superyacht tenders announced in April 2014, Wahoo RIBS Ltd has trialled the first of its new LX600 tender designs, launching it into the Solent from Southhampton for its first voyage before delivery to its new owner.

The £200,000 luxury tenders are used to travel to and from superyachts worth up to £40m. At 9m LOA, and powered by twin 300hp Mercury Verado outboard engines, this sporty tender can reach a top speed of 65 knots on the water, a performance attributed to its resdesigned hull - a collaboration with Spline Naval Architecture.

The first LX600 tender will soon be shipped to it new owner in Phuket in Thailand. The LX600 has a completely new interior including a table that doubles up as a sun lounger. 

Nick Band, marketing director of Wahoo said, “This one is going to Thailand and we have got other orders in the pipeline.

“The market we work in is based on luxury yachts, but even so it’s affected by the economy. We have got six orders going through our books at the moment and we will be able to employ more people on the back of it.”

Mr Band also announced the Shadow, which is a move into the limousine category of tenders; 10.6m LOA and fully enclosed in order to transport 14 guests in complete comfort. 

He continued, “We’ve got a fantastic boat still on the computer at the moment – it’s like nothing we have ever done before.
