Watch Overmarine's new 54m flagship star in light show extravaganza

Front and centre in a spectacular light show in Saint Tropez, Italian yard Overmarine has released a video presenting its Mangusta Gransport 54 flagship superyacht El Leon.

The YouTube video was filmed at an event held exclusively to showcase Overmarine’s new Alberto Mancini-designed yacht, which was officially launched in April this year.

Maurizio Balducci, chief executive officer of Overmarine Group, previously commented on the new line, “In the automotive sector, GranSport is a synonym for high performance and optimal comfort. These principles have been the key starting point for the creation of the new line. We translated them and applied them to our business, giving life to a model that is an authentic combination of excellence between performance and autonomy.”

The new 54-metre (177-foot) concept for the Gransport range was first revealed at Monaco Yacht Show 2015, after which Overmarine began carrying out tank tests and engineering studies, leading to the design being lengthened by 6 metres.

El Leon was designed to be ideal for exploring Mediterranean islands or the shallow waters of the Bahamas, thanks in part to its 2.3-metre draught. Overmarine revealed that the on-board stabilisation system delivers “extraordinary levels of comfort”.

She boasts a plethora of exterior spaces, including a sundeck with al fresco dining and sheltered relaxation areas. On the foredeck, El Leon’s infinity pool features a spectacular glass floor, allowing for light to filter onto the master suite below.

The Gransport 54’s aerodynamic profile reflects her sporty performance with power coming from four 2,600hp MTU 16V 2000 M94 engines. She offers a top speed of around 30 knots and a maximum cruising range of 3,500 nautical miles.

Overmarine’s other projects currently in development include the Mangusta Gransport 45, which is due to be completed next year.
