Winston Churchill’s 38m historic motor yacht, Amazon has been listed for sale in France.
Delivered in 1936 as Churchill’s personal yacht and built in steel by British shipyard J Thornycroft, she has been twice renamed, as ‘Welsh Liberty’ and ‘My Evangeline’, before taking her current name, ‘Amazon’.
Set over three decks, she includes a sun lounge and large Jacuzzi on the top deck, with a 40sqm lounge area with a bar and conference room. For entertaining, she is able to hold up to 60 guests, with 12 able to sleep across her six cabins. Amazon also accommodates a crew of eight.
Amazon is powered by twin 700hp Cummins diesel engines, and is able to travel at a speed of 11 knots offering a range of 4,000 nm. Having had several refits over time, Amazon was last refitted in 2005, with great care taken to keep the interior as it was during Churchill’s ownership.
Currently docked in Limay, France, she is owned by architect Mireille Huet and is listed under an asking price of 2 million euros by Coldwell Banker France.
