YA!2014 kicks off at the Monaco Yacht Club

The very first edition of YA!2014 kicked off at the Monaco Yacht Club this week, where a selection of fine yachts of over 25m displayed timeless works of art in the presence of the artists themselves.

The event marked the beginning of the third edition of “Il Mese della Cultura e della Lingua Italiana” with the aim of celebrating and promoting Italian culture and language in collaboration with the Italian ambassador to discover and rediscover the richness of the country’s culture.

In the presence of his Excellency the minister of state Michel Roger, his Excellency Antonio Morabito, Italian ambassador to Monaco and many other key Italian personalities, the inauguration was held to launch five days of a celebration of combining yachting and art for the very first time in the heart of the Monegasque Principality.

Collectors, owners and guests were treated to an exceptional artistic display of works on board yachts of significant sizes by artists to include Ghass, Alighiero Boetti, Katherina Fritsch, Robert Longo or Peter Wuetrich among many others. In keeping with the theme of the ‘L’art de vivre la mer’, Boutsen Design presented Iranian artist Ghass on board 41m M/Y Nameless by Mondo Marine.

Iranian artist Ghass Rouzkhosh is one of the most successful and promising painters of abstract art in the world. In 2007, he made his first sale at Christie's and is today invited by European and Middle Eastern royal families alike to present his latest work.

Combining art on a yacht with Ghass was natural with 2013-built M/Y Nameless. The yacht herself is an extraordinary example of her owner’s passion for contemporary art and all things precious. A fresh Italian style oozes from the meticulously creations blending contemporary elements with traditional centuries-old artisanal companies such as Antico Setificio Fiorentina, Foglizzio leathers and using 300m sq of veinless Carrara marble throughout.

Currently on offer for sale and charter with Camper & Nicholsons, the exposition of the yacht in such an innovative new way, is a pioneering experience for the artist, yacht owner and interior yacht decorator alike.

As an interior decorating company that provides turnkey solutions from the initial proposals to the ordering and tracking under one roof, Boutsen Design today offers a professional and dedicated service backed up with a team of seven in the Monaco-based showroom and logistics centre.
