JFA Yachts has announced that Zeepaard has been selected as a finalist for the Voyager’s Award 2014 at the World Superyachts Awards. The ceremony will be held on the 3rd May in Amsterdam.
Zeepaard was delivered in 2003 by JFA Yachts named as ‘Axantha I’. This explorer vessel really did an amazing trip as she completed a full world tour following the Equator. The vessel spent 3 years and 3 months sailing 50,000 miles from Nice to Nice, visiting 39 countries along the way.
The owner of Zeepaard commented, “We began our world tour on July 1, 2009 in Malta, with no plan, no time schedule and no exact route. We would soon discover that this philosophy would make our trip great fun, but would also make the experience a very daring undertaking…I can now look back and reminisce about the best time of my life spent with my dear friends and family.
“After our month in Cuba, we departed for The San Blas Islands - my absolute favourite destination. These islands are an Indian reserve in the state of Panama consisting of a stretch of coastline and some 30 islands, owned and occupied by the Kuna Yala Indians. Stepping on to these islands feels like walking into a National Geographic movie.”
Reading this, JFA Yachts is proud to have built such an outstanding yacht but moreover is proud to have contributed to realising an owner’s dream.
