Superyacht deckhand course in FloridaMaritime Safety Academy's deckhand course is a great way to acquire or strengthen the base knowledge and understanding of the work on deck, and therefore is the perfect course to start a professional deck career on superyachts. The course will help you stand out to captains, recruiters and yachting agencies. You will learn basic seamanship and navigation skills using our fully approved professional simulator. If you are just starting out or want to get to the next deck level, this is the perfect course for you.
Theory is always followed by practice, making the class very practical and efficient, while giving the student the necessary tools to deal with real life situations.
Each week brings new topics and emphasises the critical parts of the job, such as safety and navigation. At the end of the course, successful students become certified holders of the Deckhand Rating, Ordinary Seaman Credential and the STCW Basic Safety Training Certificate (optional). Students will receive classroom knowledge including simulator practice and official testing to automatically acquire the STCW Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch (RFPNW) qualification with documented sea time.
Certificate holders will have the advantage of standing out to recruiters and owners in the industry. The course is taught by instructors with decades of Navigation experience on deep sea vessels and holding unlimited deck licenses.
