64m VSY superyacht leaves Viareggio ahead of launch

Viareggio Superyachts (VSY) has announced that it is preparing to launch its 64-metre (210-foot) superyacht Atomic.

Previously known as Project 003, the yacht left the yard in Viareggio at the weekend and has been transported by barge to Livorno in preparation for her official launch.

Espen Øino is responsible for the yacht’s exterior, while French studio Darnet Design leads the interior design brief.

Atomic will feature six suites for up to 12 guests, including an owner’s cabin with panoramic views out to sea and an aft-facing skylounge. Additionally, crew are well accommodated for in quarters for up to 16 staff.

Franck Darnet, founder of Darnet Design, previously described the interior as “warm contemporary”, due to the use of textured leather panels and honed marble to create a cosy atmosphere desired by the owner.

Key features include a bridge deck gymnasium, a 12-person dive centre on the lower deck and a sundeck which features an infinity pool, fire pit and separate bar area.

Power will come from a pair of 2,682hp Caterpillar 3516B engines for a predicted top speed of 17 knots.

Atomic will return to Viareggio for completion following her upcoming launch.
