Alewijnse Marine wins contract to install two Amels superyachts

Dutch electrical engineer Alewijnse Marine has won a contract to install complete systems on the debut two 60-metre (197-foot) Amels Limited Editions superyachts.

Alewijnse was also contracted, along with Droste Elektra, to install navcom and electrical systems on a luxury Rhine cruise ship, now being built by De Hoop Shipyard of the Netherlands.

The Dutch electrical specialist will install distribution boxes, cabling, communication, nautical equipment, bridge, alarm, fire detection and CCTV systems.

According to Alewijnse, the Amels contracts cap three years of R&D into joining innovative naval architecture and hybrid propulsion technology. It will install electrical systems and an IT network by integrating bridge, AV and the hybrid propulsion systems.

Having already worked on over 20 Amels superyachts, Alewijnse is a key co-maker for the yard.

Victor Caminada, Amels marketing manager, stated that Alewijnse was “closely involved in the development of the Amels 60”.

Alewijnse will install “future-proof” hybrid propulsion that, together with peak power shaving technology, will yield significant cuts in fuel use. The project deadline is early 2022.
