Aluminium hull of Pelagic 77 turned at KM Yachtbuilders

25^th November 2019 marked an important milestone in the building process at KM Yachtbuilders in the building process for the new Pelagic 77. The aluminium hull was turned over with two mobile cranes.

A centerboarder rather than a full lifting keel, Pelagic 77 will be a modern schooner with two carbon masts to split up the sail area, therefore keeping all sailing systems, e.g, winches and furlers, manually operated.

The large pilot house and comfortable living area and galley aft are the main areas where guests can spend time when they are not on the deck. Six double cabins are forward of the pilot house with two heads and showers shared between them. The interior styling is light with bamboo furniture.

Her two Yanmar engines of 150hp ensure redundancy.

After delivery at the end of 2020, followed by a thorough sea trial in the North Atlantic through the summer of 2021, Pelagic 77 will be sailing down to Puerto Williams in Chile to be used as a private vessel but will also be used for education in the area.

Ship Novak was in attendance as a representative for Pelagic Yachts, along with Jordi Griso, the marine representative of the owner Nicolás Ibáñez Scott, a Chilean entrepreneur and adventurer.
