Amels and Damen have announced that they have sold the first Damen SeaXplorer expedition yacht.
The SeaXplorer range, which was premiered at the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show last September, is made up of the 65m, 90m and 100m “true explorer” models; met by the industry and media with great acclaim for its ground-breaking design in terms of look, style and autonomy.
The first unit to be sold is a 65m, which, according to a recent press release from Amels, is “a crossover between professional technology and superyacht exclusivity” with “proven capability where you need it” and “superyacht luxury where you want it”.
The 65 expedition yacht offers 40 days of autonomy without a port call, and complies with stringent new environmental and safety standards in the Category B of the IMO Polar Code.
She is the result of thousands of hours of research and development and ice tank testing from Damen, and has been designed with real expedition in mind, in collaboration with EYOS Expeditions. Her exterior lines were created by Azure Yacht Design and Naval Architecture.
On board, the vessel accommodates up to 12 guests to be served by a crew of 20. She features an observation lounge, a crow’s nest, and a helicopter which can be housed in a hangar of 12m. Furthermore, she hosts a fleet of tenders and water toys including a rescue boat, a dive support boat, a submersible, two Zodiacs and four Waverunners.
Following the sale, the SeaXplorer 65 is scheduled for delivery in 2019.
