AMELS, the Dutch shipyard and luxury yacht builder, has taken a step forward into full custom yacht building services for superyachts of 80m and over.
As the largest superyacht facility in the Netherlands, AMELS is now equipped to undertake custom one-off yacht creations, built to the highest of standards. This includes custom superyachts between 80 and 110m in length.
Rob Luijendijk, AMELS managing director detailed how, in recent years, superyacht market trends have shifted towards larger yachts that are full custom designs. He said, “The market approaching us with enquiries for large projects was an important factor in developing our AMELS Full Custom offer.
“At the same time, we’re fully committed to our Limited Editions concept in the 55 to 83m range, and we have quite a full order book. AMELS has enjoyed steady organic growth since introducing the Limited Editions concept 10 years ago, and AMELS Full Custom is another natural step forward in that process.”
To deliver its full custom offer, the business has commissioned a brand new 200m climate-controlled covered dry dock. These modern facilities, alongside the existing team of experienced project managers, craftsmen and co-makers, will place AMELS in a strong position for building these impressive superyachts.
The AMELS shipyard is impressively fully booked with nine yachts currently under construction, including an 83m superyacht build, the AMELS 272, as part of its Limited Edition range. Construction is well underway and the yacht is on track for delivery at the end of 2016.
Luijendijk added, "while we have a full yard, it's very smooth production, very predictable and well-planned and that's why we feel ready to grow with this step into fully custom. It's a controlled growth and we're supported in that by our parent company, Damen Shipyards."
