An in depth look at superyacht upholstery and fabrics company La Goelette

Yachting Pages is pleased to share a recent interview with La Goelette, a leading upholstery and fabrics company in Beaulieu, France. Severine, a representative of La Goelette, gave an in depth introduction to the family run company and elaborated on the industry that they are a part of.

1) In your own words how would you describe your business?

La Goélette was founded in 1975. At first, we started of manufacturing sails, but quickly developed over the years into upholstery and fabrics for the whole yacht industry, making products such as covers, cushions, furniture, shade sails, curtains, blinds and furnishings

The quality of our work is very high-end which has enabled us to turn our attention not only from owner’s yachts, but to their home and villas also.

2) What makes you different from your competitors?

What stands us apart from our competitors is that we follow our customers' projects from the beginning right through to the end; this includes advice, manufacturing and fitting.

We manufacture very technical products that our competitors may shy away from and are not afraid of these very special requests.

3) Is there anything that people don’t know that you would like to announce?

La Goélette now offers advice, manufacturing and fitting of carpets; we are always on the look for new and different materials, and this combined with our know-how and experience really shows we offer a complete service.

4) What is the most bizarre client request you’ve received?

Manufacturing a bespoke cover for a unique piece of art - A giant turtle.

5) What are the current trends in your sector at the moment?

Our customers want fabrics that are beautiful with exceptional quality levels, adapted to their bespoke requests, whether it is a cover for a beautiful piece of art or a special fabric for use outdoors.

Most of all, they want their property, whether it is their villa or their superyacht, to be unique and different to any others.

6) What superyachts/big clients have you worked with that you can share?

We have a confidentiality policy in place so we are unable to pass on the yachts' names we have worked on, but we can tell you we regularly work for superyachts up to 72m in lenght.

7) Are you attending any upcoming boat shows?

We may participate in the Monaco Yacht Show next year, and hopefully we will have an exhibition stand.

8) Who would be your dream client?

Our dream client would be a client who would give us a free hand for decorating their villa or superyacht.
