Australia’s ‘Largest Special Effect Refinished’ Motor Yacht is Unveiled

The largest white boat ‘special effect’ refinish ever to have been completed in Australia has been unveiled.

The newly-refitted 47m motor yacht Aquamarina has sailed out of Rivergate Marina & Shipyard, one of Queensland's premier superyacht refit and project management destinations.

MY Aquamarine is turning heads thanks to its striking refinish by Superyacht Solutions, who collaborated with Rivergate for the project and delivered it ahead of schedule.

The motor yacht, managed by Monaco-based Yachting Partners International (YPI), underwent an extensive six-month refit. The project’s main focus was a complete exterior finish.

Yet Superyacht Solutions’ refinish was no ordinary paintjob. The job incorporated unique colours, effects, specialised equipment and techniques normally used on high-end automobiles by Bentley, Jaguar or BMW.

YPI has been “effusive in its praise” of the work, said a statement by Rivergate. “MY Aquamarine’s new exterior paintwork can only be described as ‘simply the best’.”

The yacht’s refinish coatings were specially-formulated in Europe by DuPont. Based in Ontario, Canada, DuPont produces yacht finishes with science-based processes. Its coatings were then air freighted to Australia especially for the Aquamarine project.

MY Aquamarine now has a striking ‘glacier metallic blue’ hull and stunning pearlescent superstructure. Her blue hull was achieved with a series of scientific formulations and applications.

Eight ‘metallic’ coats were applied to Aquamarine’s hull and 10 coats were applied to her superstructure. All were applied to exacting specifications using cutting-edge Dual Wavescan and Cloud Runner technologies.

Rivergate’s Manager Andrew Cannon said that DuPont coatings had expressed their considerable satisfaction with Aquamarine’s “fantastic” finish.
