Benetti delivers Mediterraneo 116 superyacht Big Five

Italian yard Benetti has delivered Big Five, the fifth hull in its Mediterraneo 116 series.

The 35.5-metre (116-foot) superyacht was launched at Benetti’s Viareggio shipyard in April and features a fibreglass hull and carbon fibre superstructure.

Her exterior lines come from long-term collaborator Giorgio M. Cassetta, who has also handled the exteriors of the first four Mediterraneo 116 yachts. Her interiors, meanwhile, have been overseen in-house, where a “sophisticated and contemporary” aesthetic has been created through the use of materials including Olimpico Striato and Zebrino Apuano marble, as well as lightly coloured matte-finish woods.

Accommodation is for up to ten guests across a five-cabin layout, which includes a full-beam owner’s cabin positioned forward, equipped with a private studio. Lavish, the suite allows plenty of natural light through the incorporation of panoramic windows, while there is a full-beam bathroom area split into his and hers sections with a shower cubicle fitted with a marble bench seat.

The main saloon offers views of the seascape courtesy of large windows on either side, and comes complete with a dining area and an oval table that can seat 10, and a lounge area with comfortable sofas and a large television. Further options for dining and lounging are available on the upper deck, with a skylounge that opens out onto the stern area, offering a teak table seating 12 and a sofa.

Power comes from twin Diesel 1401 HP engines, allowing Big Five a top speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, as well as a range of 3,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.
