Boston announces board appointment of Corporate Aviation and Yachting Specialist

Isle of Man and Malta based Trust Company, Boston Group, has announced the appointment to the board of Katherine Ellis as Business Development Director with a specialist focus on yachting and aviation. The appointment forms part of a series of expansions within Boston Group and represents the next stage of the targeted international high-growth strategy announced by CEO, Greg Ellison, last year.

Having worked within the Isle of Man’s yachting and aviation industries for the past 15 years, Katherine has been instrumental in transforming the Island into a world leading centre of excellence for the registration and administration of high-value luxury assets. Katherine is both a representative member of the Isle of Man Yacht Forum, a body formed in 2003 in order to serve the Island’s burgeoning super-yacht registration and administration industry, and was closely involved throughout the consultation process and inauguration of the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry in 2007.

Katherine will be leading business development across all business lines for Boston Group in Malta and the Isle of Man and is to embark upon what she describes as a ‘shaking-up’ of the current service model in a sector that she sees historically as being ‘sleepy and complacent’. Taking advantage of her specialist expertise, Katherine is to spearhead the development of Boston’s new yachting administration services, which are due to be launched at the Monaco Yacht Show this week. The new product range will see Boston further specialise in its yacht administration services, providing discreet, tax efficient yacht ownership structuring for international clients whilst remaining at the forefront of the industry in terms of both technological infrastructure and client support.

Commenting on the forthcoming launch, Katherine stated: “Our new yacht offering focuses on providing our clients and intermediaries with a first class professional administration service and international expertise. We aim to simplify the current product range available here on the Isle of Man and Malta by concentrating upon what we do best - the administration of structures rather than technical management of yachts. We aim to be the first point of a contact for our clients and act as the gateway to a comprehensive range of specialist services which can be tailored to suit any yacht owner in any jurisdiction. Boston has built a team of industry specialists in the Isle of Man and Malta to ensure we are at the forefront of such developments in our respective jurisdictions but this would not be possible without the support of a global network of trusted intermediaries and suppliers as well as expert brokers and managers. I look forward to maintaining our excellent relationship with these professionals,  showing a united front with the rest of the yachting industry and to helping to raise the profile of the Isle of Man and Malta as first class jurisdictions.”

Group CEO Greg Ellison also commented on the appointment: “Katherine’s new position as Business Development Director represents a significant appointment for Boston Group. We are committed to employing only the best and most active members of the business community and as a key figure in the establishment of both registers, a member of the Shipping Association, representative member of the Yacht Forum and Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants, Katherine is a perfect example of this sentiment. As is evidenced by recent celebrations of the Aircraft Registry’s 500th craft, the Isle of Man is quickly becoming a global hub for business and warrants an increasingly international focus when it comes to business development. With her years of experience in this area, Katherine is ideally positioned with the skills and support network necessary to operate in this international capacity and to provide the right structures for our clients regardless of jurisdiction. I believe Katherine to be an asset to both Boston and ‘Isle of Man plc.’ and know she will be a great success with us in the future.”
