Cala Ponte Marina to join Camper & Nicholsons network in Italy

The new Cala Ponte Marina will join Camper & Nicholsons’ international network when it opens in southern Italy next summer.  Comprising 320 berths from 5m to 25m, Cala Ponte is located near Bari in the Apulia region, which borders the Adriatic to the east and the Ionian to the south east.

The marina is situated below the cliff-top town of Polignano a Mare, an ancient city of narrow alleys and traditional architecture.  Apulia’s 500 miles of coastline is studded with ports and an anchorage, making it one of Italy’s most popular cruising areas. The Dalmatian Coast of

Croatia and Greece’s northern Ionian islands are also within a day or two’s sail.

As well as berths, there will be a hotel and commercial property for bars, restaurants and leisure businesses at Cala Ponte Marina.  With a fuel station on site, as well as power, water, and grey and black water collection on the pontoons, the marina will be fully serviced to the usual C&N international standards.

Camper & Nicholsons collaborated on the design of the marina with developer, Fimco SpA.

Vito Fusillo, chairman of Cala Ponte SpA, commented, “Having worked successfully with

Camper & Nicholsons on the design and development of the marina, it was clear that their experience and expertise made them the ideal partner to support us when the project reaches completion in 2013.”

James Beaver, C&N’s chief operating officer, added, “Cala Ponte Marina will be a world class destination and a credit to this beautiful part of Italy’s varied coast.  We are privileged to work with Sr Fusillo and his team on bringing this project to the operational stage, and we are delighted to welcome Cala Ponte to the Camper & Nicholsons network of premium marina destinations.”
