Christensen Shipyards close gates

Reports suggest that, this week, production has once again ceased at Christensen Shipyards in Vancouver, Canada, until further notice.

It’s not the first time that Christensen Shipyards, the custom yacht-builder, has closed down production due to financial struggles in recent months, as, late last year, the company temporarily closed down for a week before operations subsequently started up again.

New reports however suggest a more pressing threat to Christensen Shipyards financial health this time around with several businesses making initial filings under the Uniform Commercial Code, naming Christensen as a debtor.

News of the shipyard closing its gates come just days after the launch of Christensen’s first Custom 43m Series project, ‘Missing Link’, which was sold to American buyers in 2012.

It is thought that project managers will continue working with representatives of the new superyacht until its delivery, which accommodates up to 12 guests in complete comfort across five staterooms.

Missing Link has a main deck master suite, two VIP staterooms, two forward convertible guest cabins, and an elevator servicing the decks. Her exterior styling reflects that of the Christensen Custom Series image, with a raised forward full-shear bulwark and vertical pilothouse windows.

The vessel is powered by twin MTU 12V 4,000 series engines and has a range of 3,500 nautical miles.
