Cogs4Cancer day six: The final tribute ride

Stage four sponsored by: Sunseeker Monaco
Kilometers ridden: 765km
Kilometers to go: 82km

The final day of the superyacht charity cycle ride, Cogs4Cancer, saw the seventeen cyclists, including Yachting Pages’ MD Steve Crowe, welcome 70 additional riders for the Cancer Research Tribute Ride. The 70 willing cyclists were each required to raise a minimum of €300 euros in order to take part.

The sixth and final stage, sponsored by world-renowned superyacht broker Sunseeker, took the cyclists from San Remo, through Monaco to the finish line on the International Yacht Club d'Antibes.

Hosted by All Services, Portsole welcomed a supportive crowd and the 87 riders set off at 10.30am to cheers from the crowd. Steve Crowe said, “The atmosphere at the final start line was electrifying, Alex and the rest of the All Services team showed their organisational excellence once again and did a wonderful job with the banners, the send off and even a police escort!”.

The Tribute Ride route took riders through the luxury principality of Monaco, knows for its casinos, Formula 1 and superyachts. With the buzz of last week’s Monaco Yacht Show still hanging in the air, the riders enjoyed a picturesque view of Monaco’s famous streets before stopping for lunch at Stars’N’Bars.

The afternoon’s ride took the cyclists along the coast road, passing through Cap d’Ail, Eze and Beaulieu before descending into Nice and re-grouped in Ma Nolans for some well-earned refreshments!

At 4:30pm, the Cogs4Cancer team crossed the finish line after 850km and six days of riding. The finish line celebrations were hosted by Freedom Maritime who greeted the riders with champagne. Fourteen of the world’s largest superyachts sounded their horns to welcome the riders back into port.

So far, the Cogs4Cancer team has raised €203,065 of their €200,000 target. The riders would like to thank everyone who has already donated.
