Cogs4Cancer day two: Forli to Empoli

Stage two sponsored by: Dbeere Yachts
Kilometers ridden: 317km
Kilometers to go: 533km

The second day of the superyacht charity cycle ride, Cogs4Cancer, saw the seventeen cyclists, including Yachting Pages’ MD Steve Crowe, set off from Forli to Empoli.

Stage two of the 850km route took the cyclists through Florence, Prato and Pistoia, before finishing their 317th kilometer in Empoli.

The seventeen riders passed through one of Europe’s greatest art cities, Florence at around 2.00pm. Steve Crowe, managing director of Yachting Pages commented, “We weren’t able to visit Giotto’s frescoes, Michelangelo’s David or witness the works of Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci, but we did manage to get a photo or two.”

The afternoon cycle took the riders a further 36km to the little-know delight of Pistoia in the heart of Tuscany. The riders enjoyed views of ancient churches, frescoes and arcaded piazzas before continuing on their way to their second days destination of Empoli.

Steve continued, “The mileage is taking its toll now on most of the riders, stiff necks, shoulders, knees aching, tired muscles the list of ailments goes on! Masseuses Chelsea and Liz have been amazing so far, always on hand to kneed out that knot before we hit the road again.”

Currently at €182,346 of their €200,000 target, the riders have a further 533km to cover over the next four days.
