Construction begins on the second hull in Moonen’s Martinique series

Moonen shipyard announced this week that it has begun construction on the second hull in its 36.3-metre (119-foot) Martinique series, with the first of the series launched in June last year.

Currently referred to as YN199, the keel laying ceremony took place in December, with the hull and superstructure scheduled to be joined in July of this year.

Dutch designer René van der Velden is responsible for the exterior design, and is working in collaboration with Diana Yacht Design on the naval architecture.

Studio Indigo – a London-based designer – is leading the interior brief, working closely with the owner.

Nicky van Zon, project manager of YN199, commented, “The Moonen team along with the Lloyds surveyors were all on site to celebrate this significant moment.”

Adding, "We will combine the hull and superstructure in July at the Moonen shipyard in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, which is a moment I’m particularly looking forward to. It’s always a special moment to see the design coming to life.”

YN199 is scheduled for delivery in spring 2020, following the first of the series, which was delivered in summer 2018.
