Construction in progress on 40m superyacht Phoenix 130

US designer Lazzara Ombres Architects is due to share fresh details about is 40.5-metre (133-foot) all aluminium superyacht Phoenix 130 at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in the coming days.

Having developed the project with South Korean shipyard GHI Yachts, Lazzara Ombres will present a progress report on the yacht, which is due to be delivered in 2020.

Phoenix 130 is the debut yacht in a series that is also expected to see the launches of 50-metre (164-foot) and 70-metre (230-foot) designs.

A large team of contributors have worked on the project; Alexandre Thiriat has worked on her interiors while naval architecture, marine engineering and structural drawings have been handled by Bill Prince Yacht Design and Boska Marine Design.

Key features on board include a spacious flybridge deck equipped with a Jacuzzi, a beach club and a walk-around top deck.

Phoenix 130’s interior styling is inspired by Okto – a yacht that Thiriat has worked on previously – with materials such as dark Indian rosewood, light and reconstituted oak and chenille among those incorporated.

The luxury yacht will have a shallow draft of 2.25 metres and a top speed of 28 knots courtesy of twin 3,460hp MTU 12V 4000 engines.

Construction has begun on spec, with the yacht listed for sale with Northrop & Johnson for $22 million (c. €19.54m).
