CRN superyacht ‘Sylvania’ to undergo aft extension and superstructure refit

It’s been announced that CRN shipyard’s 1979 superyacht build, Sylvania, is set to undergo a 4m extension as part of a major refit.

Previously christened as Aruba II, the superyacht currently measures 35.05m, and will be expanded to close to 40m when the aft extension is complete. The work is being undertaken in order to meet with the new needs of the owner.

The refit project, which will be the vessels fourth in her long history, will also include an overhaul of the superstructure, an extended bridge deck lounge and a completely new upper sun deck.

Inside, modifications will be made throughout in order to increase the height of the ceilings and develop larger space for on-board tender storage while exterior renderings suggest that the new hull will be wrapped in a deep blue colour, bringing it up-to-date with recent trends in the industry.

Originally designed by the in-house team at CRN, Guido de Groot Design will be overseeing the redesign of the vessel, however it is not yet clear which refit shipyard will be used to undertake the work.

According to a statement issued by the redesigners, ‘the yacht will benefit from plenty of newly created recreational and sunbathing space. From a design aesthetic, her lines have been brought up-to-date without neglecting her classic heritage and associative style that is appreciated by so many people.’
