Damen’s newly refitted yacht is a Game Changer

Dutch yacht Damen has delivered its innovative new 69.15-metre (227-foot) superyacht support vessel Game Changer. Sold in January 2018, she has finally been handed over after extensive modifications at the firm’s Gorinchem facility.

Game Changer has been altered to focus on marine conservation and ocean research expeditions, with apparatus for documenting the seas’ biodiversity and undertaking diving treks. New guest and crew areas have also been installed, and a dive centre with bespoke configuration has been certified for Arctic and Antarctic operations in compliance with the IMO Polar Code.

As well as the interior additions, Game Changer has been equipped with a custom-built C-Researcher submarine, a fully certified helideck and below-deck helicopter hangar – as well as a specially designed Airbus H130 T2 helicopter with state-of-the-art Shotover 8K camera rig.

The project has been overseen from start to finish by Mike Rouse, who served as a representative for the owners.

“It has been a long and intense period of work preparing Game Changer for the exciting projects that lie ahead. We are confident we are starting this exciting journey with a very capable vessel,” Rouse stated.

Game Changer was originally launched in 2017 and sold a few months later. She has sizeable storage for supplies and provisions, and quarters for up to 22 crew members on board.
