Dometic’s 7100 series orbit toilet and spot zero dock box earn DAME nominations ahead of METS 2013

Two of Dometic Marine’s innovative new products for 2013 have been named as finalists in this year’s DAME Design Award competition.

The MasterFlush® 7100 Series Orbit Macerator Marine Toilet and the Dometic Spot Zero Dock Box have each earned DAME nominations and will go forward for final judging by the DAME jury.

The actual award winners will be announced at the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) Breakfast Briefing in the Forum of Amsterdam RAI on Tuesday, November 19, prior to the start of the show.

Already a winner of the 2013 IBEX Innovation Award for Mechanical Systems at this year’s International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) in Louisville, Kentucky, USA, the Dometic 7100 Series toilet features the innovative ORBIT (omnidirectional rotating base installation technology) engineering, which allows the base of the toilet to be rotated to any degree in relation to the bowl.

The unique ORBIT 360 design element offers unparalleled benefits to OEMs as it results in virtually limitless floor plan and plumbing configurations. Available with either freshwater or raw/sea water flushing capabilities, the 7100 Series toilet has been designed for use in very tight spaces and has one of the smallest foot-prints currently on the market, yet it has a full-size bowl and seat for residential-style comfort. The toilet also features a space-saving integrated electric water valve (freshwater models only) which eliminates the need for a separate installation.

The first portable freshwater reverse-osmosis marine system that can be stored and used dockside, the Spot Zero Dock Box recently collected an IBEX Exhibitor Video Award when Dometic secured The People’s Choice Award for its video titled ‘Dometic Spot Zero Dock Box - Hose Down Your Boat and Let It Air Dry’.

The Dometic Spot Zero Dock Box uses water from the available dock hose for spot-free cleaning of boat exteriors so there is no need to go back and chamois-dry the vessel’s surfaces. It can also be used to fill a boat’s freshwater tanks for spot-free dishes and glassware.

This portable freshwater reverse-osmosis system removes 95-99% of dissolved solids which create water spots and are destructive to marine paint. The reverse-osmosis water purifier also reduces water hardness by 100% and removes other contaminants, including viruses, cysts, bacteria and radioactive contaminants from dock water.

DAME Awards Jury chairman Bill Dixon said that the jury was pleased with the quality of many of the entries and the effort companies made to present their products in a clear and concise way.
