Fassmer reveals new OPV80 explorer concept

German shipyard, Fassmer, a business that is better known for the construction of offshore and naval vessels, has presented a unique explorer concept, which has been aimed at the superyacht owner in search of an explorer option that is based on a proven and trusted platform.

With design by Beiderbeck Design, the OPV80 is a new-build project based on the engineering platform of Fassmer’s proven 80m OPV 80 (Offshore Patrol Vessel).

The OPV80 has been optimised for fast and efficient cruising, while still offering a wide 13m beam to accommodate the exploration raft and launching platforms expected of such a concept. Aboard, there is a helipad for large craft, which can be converted into an entertainment deck once the helicopter has been stowed in its dedicated hangar amidships.

The vessel’s propulsion package is customisable, with the option of two Wartslla solutions, offering top speeds of 18 or 22 knots respectively. Extended cruising is made possible by the impressive bunkering capabilities that the platform offers.
