Faster HYBRID connectivity solution in the US

e3 Systems, a leading telecommunications company for the superyacht industry, has recently unveiled its ‘HYBRID’ connectivity solution in the US.

According to e3, the solution provides all superyachts with 100% connectivity, combining satellite, 3G, 4G and terrestrial broadband services, ensuring the fastest possible service at the lowest possible rate, whether in port, offshore or mid-ocean.

Roger Horner, group managing director from e3 Systems, explained, “Our clients all want 100% connectivity. Over the last 20 years we have got closer, step by step, as new services have matured. After initially developing it for Europe we are now pleased to launch HYBRID in the USA.

“Our team of engineers have developed a system that integrates a yacht’s entire communications system that functions similar to a smart phone in that it can both automatically and manually, seamlessly switch between different connections as the yacht moves. This means that the yacht will gravitate to the strongest connection as it moves, providing the fastest performance across the various networks, whether that’s satellite, 3G, 4G or terrestrial broadband services, at the lowest rate possible, anywhere in the world.”

Roger continued, “Our HYBRID solution is like the most progressive hybrid sports car that’s powered by an electric motor and a combustion engine. As with the car hybrid, the strength of our integrated connection hybrid lies among other factors, in the perfect synchronisation of satellite and land based services which makes itself apparent in maximum bandwidth performance and cost efficiency”.

The e3 HYBRID solution is achieved by supplementing slower, expensive connectivity with faster, more cost effective connectivity across the network platform. Once e3 Systems has received a detailed brief of where the yacht is traveling to, the service required and for how long, a customised program is created.

Through their 20+ years of experience within the superyacht industry, e3 Systems’ has found that yachts that are over 24m spend 87% of their time inshore. The e3 HYBRID therefore purposely combines a base satellite service with a 3G and 4G aggregated service in order to provide 100% connectivity with the maximum bandwidth possible at the lowest cost, wherever the yacht spends most of its time.
