Flagstone Property Group announces ‘powerhouse team’ for Island Gardens

Flagstone Property Group has announced that it has assembled a ‘powerhouse team’ for the architecture and construction of Island Gardens, a mixed-use development that will include a superyacht marina to accommodate up to 50 yachts.

The development, which is currently progressing towards a 2017/18 season opening, will also boast two luxury hotels, hotel-serviced and branded living, a selection of world-class retail and restaurants as well as a water taxi transportation system servicing Miami and its beaches.

The Deep Harbour at Island Gardens marina - North America’s only marina that is exclusively designed for superyachts – is currently well under construction by a team of leading marina builders, including Technomarine Group who are acting as designer, engineer, manufacturer and installer of floating docks and slips.

The marina, which is scheduled for completion in December 2015, will accommodate yachts up to 167.6m or 550ft, and will offer full-service amenities, including in-slip fueling.

For those travelling to international destinations, Island Gardens Deep Harbour will provide customs and immigration clearance to guests and residents arriving via yacht. It will also serve as the future home of Superyacht Miami, a new boutique show by Show Management designed exclusively to cater to superyachts.

Mehmet Bayraktar, chairman and chief executive officer of Flagstone Property Group commented, “Island Gardens is rapidly progressing with the completion of the marina slated for this year. We needed to put together a team that understands the context of today’s global citizen as well as the vital role that Island Gardens will play in further solidifying Miami as a world-class city.”

Erik Sanderson, chairman and chief executive officer of Technomarine Group added, “Island Gardens Deep Harbour will have a national and international impact on the superyacht market. Miami is the perfect location for the first marina designed to cater to this special category and we seek to set a new benchmark for the marina industry worldwide.”

Beyond the marina development, Cervera Real Estate, a leader in luxury condo sales, has been retained as the exclusive sales and marketing team for hotel-serviced luxury living at Island Gardens. Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates (NBWW) will undertake the architecture, and Coastal Construction Group of South Florida the development’s construction.

Tom Murphy, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Coastal Construction said, “We’ve proudly played a significant role in changing Miami’s skyline over the years. In the context of an evolving city with so many notable projects, Island Gardens stands out as one that will elevate Miami to the unimaginable.”

The waterfront development will feature landscaped gardens, a cultured environment alive with public art and installations and civic art and a beautiful promenade overlooking the marina and Miami skyline. Over 60 percent of land area is publicly accessible.

Mayor Tomas Regalado said, “It’s our responsibility to ensure that any development on Watson Island is not only going to give back to the City of Miami and boost the local economy but will also add to the city’s allure as an international gateway.”
