Free crew talks starts with a bumper turnout

The first of The Crew Coach’s annual pre-season free talks for new crew in Antibes has started brightly, with prospective new crew queuing around the block to gain entry into the event at The Quays Irish Bar.

Entitled "The Truth About Yachting and How To Get Hired", the talks are held weekly and give industry joiners essential tips on job-hunting strategies, career planning as well as realistic information about living and working on board superyachts.

Opening one hour early for the crew talk, the Quays was full with 73 aspiring new crew eager to learn what they should expect from a yachting career and soaking up Alison Rentoul’s specialist advice on how to break into the industry.

Alison Rentoul is a professional performance coach and career guidance expert with 16 years of yachting experience.

Alison commented, “I’m thrilled to see so many smart new crew taking advantage of this excellent opportunity to improve their chances of being hired by increasing their industry knowledge and understanding. I love giving them the insights they need to gain the edge over their competition, and after that it’s up to them to put what they’ve learnt into action.”

A master class is also offered after the talk for a maximum of 10 participants who wish to learn more about how to optimise their CV for yachting and to receive a personalised job-hunting strategy that will work for them.

Master class attendee Emily Cleland commented, “Alison is very approachable and goes the extra mile to help you get the very best you can out of your CV. I highly recommend attending the master class.”

Fellow master class participant Nicolas Rongere added, “I got my first day work as a direct result of everything I learned in the free talk and master class: Alison’s information is fantastic.”

The talks are being held each Tuesday from 24th March to 12th May at 2pm at The Quays Irish Pub, 6 Blvd d' Aguillon, Antibes.
