Fuegy fights Batten Disease

Al Fullerton, CEO of Fuegy Ltd, a marine fuel bunkering company in Hong Kong, has announced that he is set to compete in two Ironman events this year to raise awareness and funds for Batten Disease.

Inspired by his best friend’s seven-year daughter Mia, who has been fighting the disease since she was three years old, Al will compete in Ironman 70.3 in the Philippines on 12th March 2017, followed by the Australian Ironman on 7th May 2017 to help find a cure.

Al explained, “Batten Disease is a degenerative condition that will soon rob Mia of her ability to walk, talk and see. In a few years it will take her life.

“Like all children, Mia deserves love, joy and happiness, so I am asking parties within the superyacht industry and beyond to help me to raise funds for research and eventually a cure, by giving whatever they can.”

Al has set out to raise $10,000, and is currently celebrating donations of $1,834.18 since launching his campaign on Friday 3rd February 2017.

Al continued, “The more people that know about Batten Disease, the greater the impact, so I ask that people spread the word by sharing my page with friends and family – together we will find a cure!”
