General Coating completes 150m-refit project with Blohm and Voss

General Coating has recently completed extensive exterior coating works on a 150m motor yacht built by German shipyard Blohm and Voss.

The work General Coating was involved with included extensive filler repairs and a full primer and topcoat application to a surface area of over 2000m2.

George Balmforth, assistant manager at General Coating commented, “All the refit works was completed in only 10 weeks, meaning General Coating came in on time and within budget.

“It was a massive opportunity to prove ourselves to both the shipyard and the client, an opportunity which we cherished and delivered on. This has opened many doors for us and we intend to go forward into new projects with Blohm and Voss, while also continuing to work on the same vessel in coming seasons. Great accomplishments all round.”

The success of General Coating in the superyacht industry has prompted the company to look forward and potentially launch a specialist sister company.

George added, “We are hoping to launch a sister company in the summer of 2015 named General Coating Yacht Finishing, which will be exclusively involved with interior and exterior yacht coatings.

“This will fall under the General Coating GmbH umbrella group but will be completely independent. General Coating Yacht Finishing will provide the same quality but with even more dedication to yachts.”
