Gyro-Gale Stabilizers releases new Tab-Fins and anti-pitch system

One of the leading suppliers of superyacht stabilisers, Gyro-Gale Stabilizers, has released new patented Tab-Fins and electronic gyros, which take stability to a new level. Installed on several 76ft Lazzara yachts in the past year, according to Gyro-Gayle, these Tab-Fins are providing as much as 98% stability at high speeds and 92% stability at zero-speed.

Zeyad Metwally, vice president of engineering at Gyro-Gale Stabilizers commented, “The new Tab-Fin was released in 2013, after years in the design and testing stage. The movable tab at the trailing edge of the fin creates as much as 3 times the lifting force without the need for extra input. The precise design creates no drag compared to other fins on the market. This intensified lift has proven a success, all while uncompromising the speed of the vessel or increasing the speed in some cases.”

Gyro-Gale Stabilizers didn’t stop at just mono-hulls as Metwally revealed, Gyro-Gale is in the process of stabilising another power catamaran with their Tab-Fins and pitch control gyro. Gyro-Gale has previously eliminated pitch by as much as 70% due to their unique four-fin and six-fin systems. Metwally added, “The new anti-pitch system will reduce pitch in unprecedented magnitude.” Combined with Gyro-Gale’s new electronic gyro, this system’s fins rotate in the direction needed to counter a roll or a pitch motion.

Speaking of Gyro-Gale’s six-fin systems, a San Lorenzo 100ft yacht with Gyro-Gale’s zero-speed and ultra-high speed six-fin system was sea-trialed this month and Arturo Rojas, the vessel’s regional director commented, “The performance was astonishing”.

Gyro-Gale Stabilizers was founded in 1976, as the only pneumatic stabiliser on the market. They have thousands of installations worldwide on Lazzara Yachts, Neptunus, Ferretti, Hatteras, Bertram, Astondoa, Azimut, Cabo, Choe Lee, Defever, Grand Banks and more. Gyro-Gale systems range from $24,000 to $210,000.
