Heesen Yachts’ 55m Project Castor sold

Dutch yard Heesen Yachts has announced that its superyacht YN19055 Project Castor, the latest in its 55-metre (180-foot) FDHF Steel class, has been sold.

Rupert Connor from Luxury Yacht Group introduced the American client and worked closely with Thom Conboy from the Heesen Yachts US office and with the team at the shipyard in Oss to close the deal.

UK-based luxury yacht designer Bannenberg & Rowell is responsible for her interior décor. Smoked Oak Chevron parquet flooring, Calacatta and Pietra Grey marbles are applied throughout the yacht.

“We are excited to hear that Project Castor has new and very experienced owners,” noted Dickie Bannenberg and Simon Rowell of Bannenberg & Rowell.

“The combination of carefully considered interior and exterior spaces, large windows, and a Bannenberg & Rowell interior with sinuous lines and some clever spatial manipulation seems to have proven irresistible to owners with high standards and great familiarity with yachts of this size. We look forward to working with everyone to deliver a great boat.”

She will house 12 guests across six staterooms, with the owner’s 82-square-metre apartment located forward on the main deck. She has been designed for guests to enjoy an indoor-outdoor flow, with a full-beam “atmospheric” sky lounge, retracting glass doors paired with the floor-to-ceiling windows and a large fixed swim platform and multifunctional beach club.

At 760GT, Project Castor is the most voluminous 55-metre currently offered by a Northern European shipyard. Power comes from two MTU 8V 4000 M63 diesel engines, allowing for a top speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots. Van Oossanen is behind the progressive FDHF (fast displacement hull form).

Project Castor is scheduled for delivery after her sea trials in May 2020. Her sistership – YN 19255 Project Pollux – is in build and scheduled for delivery in late 2020.
