Ibiza among safest superyacht destinations in Europe

After restrictions were lifted and State of Emergency ended, Spain is now living the ‘new normal’ phase of its de-escalation strategy which, for the yachting industry, means yachts can now travel to Spain.

Many businesses across the country are now gearing up for an increase in superyacht visitors, particularly in Ibiza and across the Balearics which are currently considered to be among the most COVID-safe destinations.

A leading Ibizan yacht agent has outlined the importance of the wider industry being aware of the safe environment, and everything that businesses are doing to facilitate superyachts in the weeks ahead.

“Ibiza has always been a favourite with its white beaches, azure waters and coloured marine life,” said Toni Escanellas, managing director of Ibiza Shipping Agency.

“We are proud to be one of the Balearic Islands with the lowest incidence of the disease and we want Ibiza to continue being a COVID-19-free area, so everyone can continue enjoying the paradise that is Ibiza and Formentera in a safe and different way this year, focusing on the natural beauty of the island and its beaches.

“As a company we have maintained our activity and comprehensive service to the yacht, both guests and crew, adopting the strictest disinfection and control measures to guarantee the non-transmission of the COVID-19 virus,” he added.

To ensure this, both Ibiza Shipping and its suppliers have followed a rigid protocol based on the recommendations of medical and science experts to keep both its team of professionals and its clients safe.

“More than ever, it’s important for yacht agents to try and minimise any unnecessary contact with anyone inside the yacht. As a yacht agent we guarantee the quality of the service and in the case of provisioning, product traceability.

“Many of the restaurants and hotels are now open with minimal mandatory requirements like the use of a face mask, 1.5-metre social distancing and use of gel.

“As a yacht agent we are here to provide the captain with peace of mind so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or need any information to bring your yacht to Ibiza,” he added.
