Industry-ready light induction technology?

Lighting specialist, BGB SILS is preparing to test its patented lighting system called SILS (Submersible Inductive Lighting System) in real-life situations.

SILS uses induction technology to power the exterior light requiring no drilling of the hull of the yacht, an obvious benefit to the end user.  James Tupper, marketing manager at BGB SILS explained, “The lights can be replaced without fear of leaks or bad workmanship by an outside electrician and gives peace of mind that the vessel has not been weakened in any way with a hole.

“Perfecting the technology and in particular the moulding of the material has taken up the vast majority of R&D time. It certainly hasn’t been easy, but we’re close to having units ready for real life testing.

“We have enquiries on a daily basis through the website and certainly receive lots of attention at the shows we exhibit at, but we now need to finalise the moulding and make sure SILS is tested in real life situations to ensure it’s 100% market ready.

“Our potential customers and test boats have been really patient with us and fully understand that a unique product like SILS needs to be perfected before we dare release it to an industry that seems to be crying out for induction LED products.”

SILS has other features commonly found in modern lighting systems such as RGB-W colour changing bright LEDs, fully controllable via an app on tablet or mobile and watch device.

The lights can be programmed into the boats on-board Wi-Fi system and be controlled anywhere in the world.

SILS is manufactured in the UK under parent company BGB Innovation, a combination of three group brands, BGB Engineering, BGB Marine and BGB Telemetry. BGB SILS has developed into the stand alone luxury brand from BGB for the maritime industry.
