International heavyweights move on Australian Superyacht Rendezvous 2018

Three of the biggest international superyacht industry players—Burgess, IGY Marinas and Benetti—have confirmed their involvement in the second annual Australian Superyacht Rendezvous returning to Gold Coast City Marina and Shipyard from 20th April to 21st April 2018.

All three companies have signed as partners of the 2018 Australian Superyacht Rendezvous, which this year coincides with the conclusion of the Commonwealth Games.

Burgess is considered one of the global superyacht industry leaders in sale, purchase, new construction, charter and yacht management of yachts over 30 metres or 100 feet. CEO Jonathan Beckett has confirmed he will be attending the event.

The New York-based IGY Marinas is the largest international marina company in the world with 18 marinas operating in nine countries.

Italian based Benetti is one of the oldest and most esteemed luxury motoryacht builders in the world, with at least one of its vessels confirmed to be on display at the rendezvous.

Trenton Gay, CEO of Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard and organiser of the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous, says while the inaugural event attracted international business, the signing of these three partners for 2018 confirms the international confidence in Australia’s superyacht industry potential.

“When you talk superyachts across the globe, these are arguably three of the biggest market players and to have them backing the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous is a stunning coup for the event and the industry as a whole,” Mr Gay said.

He continued, “We are thrilled to be welcoming Burgess, IGY Marinas and Benetti to the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous, giving them a first-hand insight into Australia’s potential as a hotspot for superyachts.

“These big names are passionate about industry collaboration but also being involved in this movement to exponentially increase the number of international vessels chartering and cruising in Asia Pacific waters.

“We are currently in final talks with many other exciting name partners for the second annual Australian Superyacht Rendezvous and look forward to announcing these in due course.”

The 2018 Australian Superyacht Rendezvous will comprise four main events.  The first is an industry round table event for those invested in growth of the Asian Pacific superyacht industry. The second event is a superyacht industry event for captains, crew and marine service business operators. The third is a Superyacht Showcase for event/wedding planners, hotel concierges, travel, tourism and media industry professionals while the finale is a VIP invitation-only event for superyacht owners, political and business identities and sponsors to network and celebrate the potential of superyachts within the Asia Pacific.

Research from industry body Superyacht Australia shows that one superyacht can easily spend $2.5 million in a 12-month period, which is equivalent to the economic impact and spending of an 1800-person cruise ship.

The inaugural Australian Superyacht Rendezvous in 2017 saw more than $150 million of superyachts gather for three exclusive events over two days.

Major returning sponsors already confirmed for 2018 include Aurora Yacht Logistics, Adagold Aviation, Aqualuma LED Lighting, City of Gold Coast, Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard, Hardy Brothers, Seal Superyachts and Suez.

The host venue for the 2018 Australian Superyacht Rendezvous will once again be Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard - the largest facility of its kind in the southern hemisphere with a capacity for more than 50 superyachts at any one time.  The internationally accredited 5-gold-anchor marina and shipyard is home to over 70 on-site marine related trades and currently employs well in excess of 600 marine contractors.
