Marina Barcelona 92 (MB92) has announced that the company founder and president Jorge Ventosa Gari passed away peacefully Friday afternoon following a serious illness. Mr Ventosa founded the refit and repair company in 1991. In a press release, MB92 stated, “his foresight, dedication and determination to achieve excellence have been essential to situating MB92 as a world leader within the industry.”
Pepe Garcia-Aubert, CEO of MB92, commented, “We will always remember him for his extraordinary personality, kind nature, hardworking disposition and strong leadership as he guided us along this ever-complex path. Personally it has been a great privilege to be at his side these last 24 years”.
Jorge Ventosa Gari is survived by his wife and four children. Private services were held on the 30th of September in Barcelona.
The news comes after an announcement last week that MB92 would be combining with La Ciotat-based refit and repair facility Compositeworks. In line with French protocol, detailed plans to combine the two organisations have been submitted to Compositeworks with a view to completing the arrangements before the year’s end. Under the plans, MB92 will take a majority stake in Compositeworks whose management will remain unchanged.
