Livewire Connections Launch New Features for Access Controller FB-10

Livewire Connections have launched their latest software upgrade for the Access Controller FB-10. This, the fourth major firmware upgrade since its’ initial launch in 2009 is adding several exciting new features. These include Quality of Service (QoS) and full auto failover capabilities, which existing customers can upgrade to without charge.

The versatile Access Controller FB-10 is designed to provide visibility and control of up to 10 different communications systems via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) located on a single or multiple PC’s around the vessels network. With an ever increasing demand for communications it is important that Captains/ETO’s are able to manage their available connections to ensure the available bandwidth is prioritised to those users who really need it.

The ability to control your communications and their costs is no longer a luxury and now an essential part of any vessel network, whether it is a superyacht or a bulk carrier. With well over 400 vessels now equipped with Access Controller FB-10s it is well proven and in use globally on a huge array of vessel types.

With the latest V4.0 software upgrade the additional features will become available are:

  • Quality of Service to prioritises users bandwidth
  • Auto-Failover to secondary connection. e.g. failover to FleetBroadband and automatically resume back to VSAT when it becomes available
  • Bandwidth monitoring to provide real time graphs/logs and data usage
  • Improved MAC address reservation showing leases to display the current DHCP leases on the network

The Access Controller FB-10 was the first system available on the market that had in-built control and support for FleetBroadband and is truly airtime independent with no on-going monthly fees.

“We are a proactive company, driven by our own technical capabilities and customer demand,” commented David Walker, Sales Director for Livewire Connections. “This latest upgrade is all part of the process Livewire Connections goes through to help keep our customers at the forefront with regards to managing their off-vessel connections.”

The software upgrade is being rolled out and will be available for existing Livewire Connections customers to download from their website by the end of March 2012.
