London Yacht Jet & Prestige Car Show reports successful 2016 edition

London Yacht Jet & Prestige Car Show has reported a successful show for 2016, with an increase in visitor numbers.

Marking its second edition, the show ran from 4^th to 7^th May, taking place across two venues: Old Billingsgate Market and St. Katharine Docks, which also hosted the London-On-Water Yacht & Boat Show.

According to reports, the show received 6,500 visitors in total, an increase of 8% on last year. Actor David Suchet was the main guest star at the official opening of the show, and performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony on day one.

There were a number of big players in the superyacht industry displaying over the four days, including Sunseeker, Lurssen and Benetti. Sunseeker displayed its 68 Sport Yacht and Predator 57 at the show. William Burns, brokerage director at Sunseeker London commented, “We heard good things from last year, it’s a good place to have the boats and the weather came out as well, so it makes perfect sense.”

British yacht builder Fairline Yachts had a strong presence at the show, having undergone a rebrand earlier this year, and displayed its Targa 38 and Squadron 42 vessels at the show.

Glider Yachts was due to unveil its much-anticipated and UK-built SS18 high performance sports yacht at the London-On-Water show. However, technical difficulties with the support vessel meant that the prototype was unable to be displayed. The SS18 is now due to be launched at Monaco Yacht Show, in September.

Spirit Yachts was also in attendance, displaying a number of its yachts including the Spirit 54 vessel Soufriere, used in 2006 James Bond film, Casino Royale. Nigel Stuart, managing director at Spirit Yachts commented, “This show has huge potential, because it attracts people from the centre of London and we are able to show them what we make.

It’s a great opportunity to show the market what we’ve got. The location is right in the centre of London, so they can come out of their offices and come and see the boats.”
