Look under the hood of a superyacht with new engine room app

Oculus Technologies has taken their experience in the field of interactive on board infotainment to a new and more in-depth, technical level. Their new engine room app offers a real time look into the key technology that supports and runs the vessel. The virtual on board engine room is designed to provide owners and their guests with an experience of and insight into the beauty and technical features of the superyacht “under the hood”.

It shows a 3D model of the entire engine room with real time moving parts, info-graphics, videos and animations. The user is able to select the propulsion systems, water purification, power distribution, structural parts and more to explore them in detail through a series of graphical interfaces inspired by those seen in movies such as Iron Man and Minority Report. Users gain a truly tactile and virtual 3D experience of the real technical core of the yacht. With up to date system feedback on all parameters of usage and run time data, this interactive experience can be used not only as an entertainment and information feature but also as an additional systems monitoring tool.

The engine room app is a stand-alone solution and is also compatible with Oculus Technologies’ products including YachtEye™. It can be integrated into the YachtEye™ module packages for customers with existing installations or this application can simply be customised to include all of the YachtEye features and functionality as required.

The application has already seen success with an installation on board of a substantial new build and interest from several further projects.
