Lürssen’s Aurora out on sea trials

Images have emerged of the Lürssen superyacht Aurora out on sea trials earlier this week.

Originally named Project Thor during her build, Aurora is the smallest yacht to be launched by the German shipyard since 2014’s Elysian and features interior and exterior design by Winch Design. She was originally sold by Moran Yacht & Ship back in 2014.

Sean Moran, project manager for Aurora said, “The client wanted a large volume ocean-going yacht that could accommodate all of his family without them feeling on top of each other.” Aurora features large exterior spaces and has a 13.2m beam and 3.2m draught.

In a statement, Lürssen said, “With six decks, Aurora is a voluminous yacht and boasts a lot of space for the guests’ entertainment and wellbeing, while still looking very elegant and classy, with sleek lines.”

Moran also said of her design, “In the end, the owner wanted to go for a more classic look with some Art Deco elements and we are really excited with how she came out. Winch Design has such a talented and dedicated team and the results speak for themselves.”

Aurora is able to accommodate up to 16 guests and is powered by two MTU M63 engines, able to reach a top speed of 18 knots.
