Spanish design studio, Marcelo Penna Yacht Design has recently unveiled a new 60m trimaran support vessel - the Yacht Shadow Vessel 60 (YSV60).
Designed in collaboration with sister company Marcelo Penna Engineering, the craft is based on the company’s MP625 offshore platform, providing her with excellent sea-keeping capabilities, generous on-deck storage space and an efficient hull shape.
As a yacht support vessel, the YSV60 is on-hand to store spare parts and supplies for her mothership in climate-controlled areas. She is also available to provide bunkering services for her vessel, and provides additional accommodation for crew, personal staff and guests when required, with total accommodation for up to 12 on board.
The YSV60 is equipped to receive and accommodate a large helicopter, with a helipad to her aft, and also houses aviation refuelling capabilities and a central storage hangar. Alongside a large aircraft, the storage hangar and deck spaces are also able to house a fleet of tenders, toys and support craft, with possibility for a crane behind her superstructure.
With a hydrodynamic trimaran shape and twin Caterpillar engines with fixed-pitch propellers or waterjets, the YSV60 is able to achieve a maximum speed of up to 23 knots, and a transpacific range while maintaining high speeds. Furthermore, her small water plane area at surface level offers the vessel additional stability due to the reduced affect of ocean conditions on the hull.
