MasterCraft celebrates 50th anniversary with huge party at Tennessee HQ

Performance boat specialist MasterCraft has celebrated its landmark 50th anniversary with a grand party at its headquarters in Vonore, Tennessee for owners, enthusiasts, employees, dealers and distributors.

MasterCraft was originally founded in 1968 when its first build was put together in a two-stall horse barn on a farm in Maryville, Tennessee. The company’s builders sought to create a ski boat with the smallest wake of any vessel of its kind available at the time – and despite completing just 12 builds in its first year, MasterCraft soon gained an enviable reputation for its boats and has grown apace.

Michael Hardicker, managing director of MasterCraft Boats UK, which operates worldwide as a superyacht tender expert, said in a statement, “The party got started with a concert by singer/songwriter KT Tunstall and the weekend included factory tours, boat demos, on-water demonstrations by MasterCraft athletes and a poker run on Tellico Lake. MasterCraft is a very customer-focused organization and it’s no surprise that the party was all about owners and fans. It was the perfect way to celebrate 50 years of innovation.”

In a strange twist of fate which shows the company’s ability to change with the times, MasterCraft’s latest model – the X24 – boasts the largest wake of any ski boat in the industry.

Hardicker added, “MasterCraft Boats UK created a dedicated Superyacht Tenders Division in 2015. This followed an increase in enquiries over the previous two years. That’s over five years of working in the superyacht industry and we’re also celebrating an increase in business year-on-year in this sector.  We have a dedicated team which understands the needs of superyacht professionals and we focus on matching the perfect sportsboat to an owner’s needs. We also work closely with the captain and crew to make sure they get the maximum out of their performance tender. Innovations like MasterCraft’s award-winning Gen 2 Surf System means that crew can easily serve up the best surf and customize waves according to their passenger’s needs, and our DockStar Handling System enables boat drivers of any ability to confidently drive in reverse and more easily navigate tight docks and crowded marinas.”

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, MasterCraft produced 50 limited edition ProStar vessels which sold out almost immediately.
