M/Y Venus arrives in the Mediterranean

Having spent a season in the Caribbean, the M/Y Venus has returned to the waters of the Mediterranean. The famous 78m superyacht was built by Feadship in 2011 for Steve Jobs and the striking exterior was the brainchild of the yacht’s late owner.

Designer Philippe Starck incorporated a large quantity of glass into the design, creating a striking strip of head-height windows stretching over half of the length of the main deck. The special glass design was then produced by manufacturing firm Sedak. 

Besides her highly innovative glass exterior design, Venus has a wealth of interesting design features, including reported high-tech amenities. No interior images have ever been released of the yacht, however, helping it to maintain an air of secrecy.

Venus provides comfortable accommodation for up to 12 guests, and 22 crew are housed across 14 cabins.

Twin MTU 16V 4000 M73 diesel engines are responsible for delivering a maximum speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots.

With an aluminium hull and superstructure, the yacht’s slick, minimalist design looks a perfect fit for the Apple founder, who sadly passed away in October 2011 before getting a chance to use the yacht.
