M/Y Zeepaard wins Voyager’s Award for worldwide trip

JFA Yachts has announced that Zeepaard has won the Voyager’s Award 2014 at the World Superyachts Awards during the ceremony held on 3rd May in Amsterdam. Zeepaard, designed by Vripack, was delivered in 2003 by JFA Yachts as Axantha I.

This vessel previously set sail on a worldwide trip and a full world tour following the Equator, heading west. The yacht spent three years and three months sailing from Nice to Nice, visited 39 countries and sailed a total of 50,000 miles. The owner, along with his family and friends, encountered unique experiences everywhere they went, even in the rather more adventurous ‘pirate zones’, for which they were well prepared.

This was a notable voyage and the main reason for which expedition yachts were designed, and the award’s judges considered it most worthy of a Neptune award.

Frederic Jaouen, the CEO of JFA Yachts, was present at the awards ceremony and congratulated the owner. According to JFA Yachts, they are proud to have built this yacht but moreover are proud to have contributed the owner’s dreams. However, Zeepaard is now for sale as the owner decided to build a bigger boat.
