Nautor’s Swan shares facility expansion update

Finnish yard Nautor’s Swan has provided an update on the expansion of its boatbuilding facility.

The sailing experts’ Boatbuilding Technology Centre (BTC) is currently undergoing a refurbishment and expansion that is expected to cost around €7.5 million (approx. £6.6 million). Work, which commenced in 2017, includes the construction of new production facilities that will increase the company’s total production facilities to 6,040 square metres.

The plans were showcased by Nautor’s Swan chief executive Giovanni Pomati at Monaco Yacht Show 2018, where he outlined that the yard’s Hall A3 will be rebuilt to include a dedicated joinery area.

Hall C is being converted to facilitate the lamination of GRP parts and the production bulkheads, while Hall D will specifically cover high-tech lamination and will be equipped with an oven and halls for painting, grinding and polishing.

Nautor’s Swan’s original joinery facility, located in Kronoby, has been closed since the end of last year and Pomati has reiterated that all operations from the original site will be transferred by the end of 2018.

Meanwhile, Pomati confirmed that the yard has five new models in production, describing Nautor’s Swan as “one of the most active yards” for yachts measuring between 16 and 40 metres.
